Dancing with the Stars: Maria Menounos' First Dance!
Maria Menounos is not letting two broken ribs keep her from competing on Dancing with the Stars, or taking a top spot on the scoreboard. The injury happened about a week before last week’s season premiere when Menounos was rehearsing her cha cha. She was practicing a move that involved landing on partner Derek Hough’s knee and landed in the wrong spot.
Despite the injury, Hough says Menounos is “doing great.” The 33-year-old Extra host told Us Weekly magazine she is determined to “power through” the pain and keep dancing. "I kept saying, 'We are not talking about this! We are dancing. I am having the best time of my life and I need to power through,'" she told the magazine after her performance Monday night.
To speed up her recovery Menounos is regularly icing down her ribs, taking hot baths, and taking vitamin supplements. "The doctors said they can feel the bone growing and it's a good sign," Menounos added. "The doctor told me to rest but I said there is no way I can quit. I have been just doing the best I can.”
So far Menounos broken ribs haven’t kept her from delivering good performances. On Monday night she tied for second place with William Levy.
