Avon Bulgaria EOOD remained colour cosmetics market leader in Bulgaria with 20% of total value sales

Colour Cosmetics in Bulgaria; Direct sales in the category remain strong, with Avon Bulgaria EOOD remaining leader with 20% of total value sales. The second position at the end of the review period was occupied by L'Oréal Groupe with 16%, with Oriflame Bulgaria EOOD third on 10%. The strong positions of direct selling companies are related to the convenience of ordering and excellent networks of sales consultants throughout Bulgaria. Moreover, a wide range of colour cosmetics is available and new products are regularly launched, which additionally stimulates the use of these products. The direct competition between the two direct selling companies, however, was won by Avon Bulgaria EOOD, as it manages to gain share, while Oriflame Bulgaria EOOD continues to lose positions at the expense of the top two companies.

Growth rates over the forecast period are expected to slow down as the category approaches maturity. Industry experts note that local women already spend the same amount of money on colour cosmetics as women in other European countries, therefore significant further growth is not very likely.

The two major direct selling companies in Bulgaria - Avon Bulgaria EOOD and Oriflame Bulgaria EOOD - have traditionally been the leaders of the Bulgarian colour cosmetics environment. In 2008, however, Oriflame Bulgaria EOOD moved from second to third position, with L'Oréal Groupe occupying second place.
