The winner of the first season of The Voice was crowned Wednesday night after fan votes were counted. Host Carson Daly revealed it was a close call between Javier Colon and Dia Frampton, but Colon pulled ahead for the win with two percent more votes than Frampton.
Earlier in the night, Colon’s celebrity mentor Adam Levine said the father of two deserved to win the competition. "You're one of my heroes. Good luck ... you deserve to win this competition,” the Maroon 5 singer said.
Colon won a recording contract and $100,000. "Wow. Thank you. I don't even know where to begin other than to say that the three women behind here are absolutely awesome. I want to thank everybody at home who believed in me and voted for me and [I want to thank] my family,” he said after the results were revealed.
