London 12/16/2011 09:33 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

The worldwide enterprise DECT phones market is expected to hit 1.8 million units in annual sales by 2015. Growth in the market will come from a number of sources including the increased focus of companies on business mobility, innovation initiatives, and emerging technologies such as SIP and IP DECT.

Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) phones, especially in the corporate world has withstood the test of time and the challenges posed by numerous other enterprise mobile communication technologies. Superior advantages of DECT phones, over traditional cordless phones, such as greater security, mobility, superior audio quality of speech, reduced signal interference with other electronic and wireless devices, coupled with several value added functionalities, have endeared this communication device as an indispensable piece of technology in companies. Fierce competition simmering in most industrial sectors worldwide is pushing forward the business case for enhanced enterprise mobility thus indirectly driving growth for DECT phones. Given the changing perception that mobility solutions are not a requirement for just specialized technology firms but is a fundamental need, and an indispensable part of being competitive, business-optimized devices such as DECT phones are benefiting to a great extent. However, the recent economic recession has stifled the enterprise DECT phones market ¬by squeezing enterprise spending on telephony products. Financial pressures, and the ensuing delays in purchase and implementation plans, and postponement of replacement purchases, have taken its toll on the market.

According to Global Industry Analysts, with the prolonged, and daunting global economic meltdown drying up most of the corporate cash flow and financial streams, low cost yet robust, scalable, and functional products are coming to the fore, as consumers turn price sensitive. The recession induced price sensitivity in the marketplace has however not dampened the avid consumer's need for cutting edge functionality, especially in telephonic systems. DECT phone manufacturers are therefore not surprisingly focusing on providing highly functional phones with several value added features at competitive prices in a bid to attract customers and hold on to their market share. The enterprise DECT phones market also takes heart from the continued flow of opportunities from emerging technologies such as SIP DECT, and IP DECT.

Europe continues to be the largest regional market, having accounted for a share of about 74% in the total volume sales estimated in 2009. However, developing markets such as Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe remains the focal point for future growth. Intense competition over price in the Asian market, as a result of continuous influx of new players, and product over crowding, has brought innovations, such as, bluetooth features, color/wide screens, IP/SIP support, to the fore, thereby driving the demand for DECT phones market in the region.

Key players in the marketplace include Alcatel-Lucent, Ascom Holding AG, Aastra Technologies Limited, Avaya Inc, Aztech Group Ltd, Concern Goodwin (Goodwin Europe), Ericsson, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH, Gigaset Communications GmbH, Panasonic Corporation, Polycom Inc, Siemens Enterprise Communications (SEN) Group, Snom Technology AG and Telematrix Inc.
