Police in Mexico say the murder of 13 men and boys whose bodies were found outside a gas station was likely the work of a drug cartel. The bodies were found around 2:30 a.m. Monday in Zitacuaro, Michoacan. Prosecutors say three of the victims were minors.
Notimex news agency reports the victims appeared to have been shot in the head. A note was found at the scene, but authorities have not released details on the contents of the message. No other details were available.
Cartels operating in Michoacan include the Knights Templar, the Zetas and La Familia Michoacana.
