Isiah Thomas Hospitalized for Possible Drug Overdose
Atlanta, GA 10/24/2008 11:08 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)
Former New York Knicks basketball coach Isiah Thomas was rushed to the hospital by ambulance Friday morning after overdosing on prescription sleeping pills. The New York Daily News reports that Thomas was rushed from his home in Purchase, New York to a nearby hospital after taking roughly 10 Lunesta pills.
Harrison Police Chief David Hall refused to identify Thomas. “We’re classifying it as an accidental overdose of prescription sleeping pills,” Hall said. “He was unconscious, but breathing on his own.”
The 47-year-old was taken to White Plains Hospital where his stomach was pumped.
The vice president of communications for Madison Square Garden, Barry Watkins, would only say, “Isiah is fine.”
