Pakistani Air Force Planes Collide Midair, 4 Dead

A midair collision involving two Pakistani Air Force planes left four people dead and 11 others injured, authorities in the village of Rakashai confirm. The collision happened Thursday morning during routine military training exercises near PAF Base Risalpur. Witnesses say the wings of the MFI-17 Mushshak aircrafts collided. Both planes burst into flames and crashed in Rakashai.

The dead included two pilots and two pilot trainees. One pilot and one trainee were inside each aircraft. Police spokesman Mohammad Hussain said debris from the collision injured 11 civilians on the ground. They were taken to the Nowshera Combined Military Hospital for treatment. Several homes were damaged.

“A board of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of accident,” PAF Base Risalpur said in a press release.
