The Online Community Networking site TWNpeople, a service of TransWorldNews, is featuring the Jazz Band Gypsy Jazz Caravan. Gypsy Jazz Caravan is made up of four members, violinist: Rob Thomas, a violin instructor at the Berklee School of Music, guitarist: Marc Daine, a NYC session veteran, bassist: Mike Weatherly, and rhythm guitarist: Glenn Tosto.
A word about the tunes- There are no remakes of the standard Django repertoire here. The band currently has a CD that is comprised of 14 tunes; all are originals by guitarist Marc Daine. If they sound vaguely familiar it's because they were inspired by some of the great American song composers-notably Duke Ellington and Hoagy Carmichal.

One of Jazz’s top guitarists, Frank Vignola, stated:
"This is one of the newest and freshest Django style bands to emerge in the last few years and from Brooklyn, of all places. New tunes, new solos and great violin playing by the wonderful Rob Thomas. Glenn Tosto's rhythm guitar playing is just superb on this recording and is well worth the price of admission in itself. Marc Daine's lead swings throughout."
TWNpeople has been profiling various bands that have music uploaded to the TWNpeople site and their CD(s) for sale in TWNstores. Bands can create profiles, upload music and sell CD’s on TWNstores for $1.00.
