Northrop Grumman Space Tracking and Surveillance System Demonstrator Satellites Successfully Launched Into Orbit

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) Demonstrator satellites have been launched successfully aboard a Delta II Rocket. NASA launched the Delta II rocket for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) as a capability added to America’s ballistic missile defenses.

The STSS satellites were secured in the nose cone of the Delta II rocket. Lift off took place at 8:20 a.m. (EDT) from Cape Canaveral. Within the first hour after lift off the two satellites began separating from each other and the rocket.
