(NYSE:JWN) jumped 2.80% to $32.67 after Deutsche Bank upgraded Nordstrom Inc to "buy" from "hold," saying it sees sales increases, lean inventory and cost reductions driving earnings-per-share growth at the upscale department store chain. Nordstrom, Inc. is a fashion specialty retailer that offers a selection of apparel, shoes, cosmetics and accessories for women, men and children. As of March 20, 2009, the Company operated 171 stores located in 28 states in the United States.
The Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS) surged over 2% to $21.80. So far this year the stock is up over 60%. The Gap, Inc. is a global specialty retailer offering clothing, accessories and personal care products for men, women, children and babies under the Gap, Old Navy, banana republic, Piperlime and Athleta brands. The Company operates stores in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and Japan.
Chico's FAS, Inc. (NYSE:CHS) is the top percentage gainer among apparel stocks. Now the stock is up over 5.44% and trading at its highest point of the day of $12.60. Chico’s FAS, Inc. is a specialty retailer of private branded, casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, complementary accessories, and other non-clothing gift items under the Chico’s, White House |Black Market (WH|BM) and Soma Intimates (Soma) brand names. The Chico’s brand sells designed, private branded clothing focusing on women 35 and over with a moderate to high income level.
