Century Casinos recently sold their South African Subsidiary, receiving their last payment in October 2009, although approval was granted from The Competition Tribunal of South Africa in April. The final payment made last week in the area of $13.4 million following a formal registration of shareholders resolutions at the South African official registrar of companies. The sale of the subsidiary provided a net profit of $48 million.
Century Casinos Inc is an international casino entertainment company involved in developing and operating gaming establishments, and related lodging and restaurant facilities. The Company owns, operates or manages The Century Casino & Hotel, a wholly owned subsidiary, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Womacks Casino & Hotel, a wholly owned subsidiary, in Cripple Creek, Colorado, The Century Casino & Hotel, a wholly owned subsidiary, in Central City, Colorado, and Casinos Poland Ltd. In addition to its land-based casinos, Century Casinos Inc operates four cruise ship-based casinos aboard the Silver Cloud, The World of ResidenSea and the vessels of Oceania Cruises. On November 24, 2008, it signed agreement to operate the casinos on all luxury vessels, estimated to be three, put into service by TUI Cruises before December 31, 2012. The Company has a total of 123 slots machines and 18 table games aboard its four cruise ships.
