Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (NYSE:BNI) is one of the most active
gainers in today`s trading sessions as it surges over 28.26% to $97.57 after Kendall
Law Group, founded by a former federal judge, announced that it is
investigating the proposed acquisition of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. by
Berkshire Hathaway. Under the terms of the agreement, Berkshire Hathaway will
purchase the shares of The Burlington Northern that it does not own for $100 a
share. Berkshire Hathaway already owns 23$ of The Burlington Northern.
The Black & Decker Corporation (NYSE:BDK) increases 25.48% to $59.40
on over 10.01 million shares after Kendall Law Group, led by a former federal
judge, announced that it has began an investigation on behalf of The Black
& Decker Corporation shareholders. Stanley shareholders will own
about 50.5% of the combined company, which will be called Stanley Black &
Decker. Black & Decker shareholders will hold a 49.5% stake after the
all-stock deal is complete. Stanley will pay 1.275 shares per Black &
Decker share, or $57.56 as of Monday`s close.
Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) soars 13.99% to $4.68 on a
volume of 12.72 million shares after today reported net income applicable to
common shareholders of $22.5 million, or 9 cents per diluted common share, on
revenue of $95.2 million in the third quarter of 2009, compared with a loss of
$7.2 million on revenue of $68.5 million for the corresponding quarter in 2008.
Third quarter silver production was 2.7 million ounces at a cash cost of $0.85
per ounce of silver produced after by-product credits.
