Best Buy Co. Inc. to Begin Selling Health and Fitness Products

Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY) will be venturing into the health and fitness products market, announcing plans to expand from just an electronic and technological products retailer.

The retail giant said the product line would include equipment related to running, walking, swimming and other activities. This would include pedometers, special MP3 players, yoga mats, scales, blood pressure monitors as well as treadmills, stationary bikes and elliptical machines.

With the move into the health and fitness market Best Buy will find itself in direct competition with sporting goods stores as well as other large retail outlets like Target and Sears.

Best Buy has shown some success in its push to expand beyond just an electronics and technology retailer as they’ve already added musical instruments as well as disc jockey equipment to many of its stores.
