Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) fell 83 cents, or 3.5 percent, to $22.74.
Consol Energy (NYSE: CNX) fell $2.20, or 4.4 percent, to $47.32.
Massey Energy (NYSE: MEE) fell $2.02, or 5.1 percent, to $37.51.
Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) fell $1.40, or 3.0 percent, to $45.32.
