Survivor Samoa Recap: Galu Struggles to Survive
Atlanta, GA 11/20/2009 05:26 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)
Russell made an enemy of Laura last week after he
unexpected played a hidden immunity idol, saving himself and pulling off one of
the biggest blindsides. Russell and his Foa Foa tribe members shocked most of
Galu with the move that sent Galu’s Kelly packing.
Laura vowed to get Russell out at the next tribal
council. Realizing he had a huge target on his back, Russell knew his only hope
was finding the hidden immunity idol that host Jeff Probst said would be immediately
put back into play.
At the Reward Challenge, Aiga was split in to two teams.
Russell, Laura, Natalie, Dave and Brett on yellow and Jaison, Mick, Shambo,
Monica and John on purple. One person would lay in a cradle suspended in the
air while their four teammates used ropes to maneuver them around to pick up 15
numbered flags. The flags had to be picked up one at a time and placed in order
in slots.
Natalie was in the cradle for yellow and John for purple.
Yellow got off to a good start with Natalie having not trouble getting flags
and her teammates easily maneuvering the cradle. Purple struggled to get the
hang of maneuvering the cradle and fell behind.
Yellow won the reward, which was a plane ride to a nearby
island where they would enjoy a waterfall and picnic lunch. At lunch they were
given a clue that the new immunity idol was hidden under a rock.
Once back at camp, the race for find the idol was on.
Russell immediately began searching and Dave and Laura followed him. Russell
managed to lose Dave and backtrack to where Dave had looked under a rock near a
large tree. Russell looked a little deeper than Dave and found the idol, making
this his third immunity idol.
The Immunity Challenge proved to be harder than it
looked. Everyone had three colored tiles hanging up by ropes. They each had one
chance to break their tiles by throwing a rock at them. For each one of their
tiles they broke they got one spear that would be used for a target.
Only Brett, Jaison, Mick and Monica (because Dave
accidentally broke one of her tiles) got spears. Mick shot his spear closest to
the bullseye and won immunity.
Back at camp, Russell, Jaison, Shambo, Natalie and Mick
agreed to vote out Laura. Laura, Dave, Brett, Monica and John were set to vote
out Natalie. Monica tries to convince Russell and his team that they plan to
vote out John, hoping Russell and the rest of Foa Foa will throw their votes
John’s way. The plan was designed to save Laura and get out Natalie. When John
heard of the plan he went to Russell, who confirmed that is what Monica told
him. Russell says the plan was still to vote out Laura. Russell then tries to
strike a deal with John. He says if there is a tie, then John should vote Laura
for the second vote because if the second vote is still a tie, the elimination
will come down to who picks a colored rock – meaning anyone could go home.
At tribal council, the first vote is tied between Natalie
and Laura. The second vote sends Laura packing.
