Miley Cyrus celebrated her birthday early last week with
a surprise 80s themed party at NYC’s Canal Room. She turned 17 today.

“The whole thing was a surprise,” an insider says of the
November 18 bash.

The Hannah Montana star’s mom Tish planned the party and
TLC’s Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro designed the cake. “They didn’t want a
girly cake. It totally fit the theme. It was really awesome,” Valastro said of
the rock and roll theme cake.

Cyrus’ family and close friends, including boyfriend Liam
Hemsworth, attended.
