NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR) added $0.74 or 7.56% over its previous day’s price and now trades at $10.53 on an unusual  massive volume of 4.22 million shares. The stock has a 52-week range of $6.62-$15.23. The company announced that it has expanded its network of DVD-rental kiosks through the acquisition of DVDPlay, which operates approximately 1,300 kiosks in the U.S. and Canada. NCR is increasing its expansion goals for its DVD-rental kiosks in 2009. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW) augmented 3.84% to $41.91 on a massive volume of 1.75 million shares.  The stock has a 52-week range of $19.15-$45.57. The company today announced that it has received the Frost & Sullivan Market Share Leadership award for virtualization in India for the financial year 2009. VMware, Inc. is a provider of virtualization solutions from the desktop to the data center. The Company’s suite of virtualization solutions addresses a range of information technology (IT) problems that include cost and operational inefficiencies, business continuity, software lifecycle management and desktop management.

Synaptics, Incorporated (NASDAQ:SYNA) jumped 5.48% to $27.52 on a huge volume of 660k shares was upgraded by Broadpoint AmTech Research from Neutral to Buy. The price target was fixed at $35.
