Independent artists Brother Love and H.E.R. & Kings County will headline a benefit concert this weekend, produced by internet media company RawVoice, Inc., to raise money for the Boomer Esiasion Foundation. The Foundation funds research on cystic fibrosis.
The concert, part of the Blubrry Jam campaign, will start at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at the Canal Room in New York City. Brother Love will take the stage at about 9:30, and is releasing his latest album at the show. Tickets are available for $18 through the Blubrry Jam web site at www.blubrryjam.com.
Podcasters in the Blubrry community have been advertising the Blubrry Jam campaign on their shows, raising over $1,000 so far.
Rob Safuto, marketing director for RawVoice, is happy with that result. "This is the first time there's been a partnership like this, between a podcasting community and a non-profit," he said. "I think it shows how committed podcast listeners are."
Brother Love has known the power of podcasting for years. "Almost all of my album sales come from podcast play," he said. "Every podcast has its own dedicated community of listeners." The album he releases at the Blubrry Jam show will be his second as a solo artist.
For the Blubrry Jam campaign, Blubrry podcasters are asking listeners to visit the Blubrry Jam web site to learn about cystic fibrosis and to make donations. Musicians are helping by donating podsafe songs for use during the campaign. All monetary donations go directly to the Boomer Esiason Foundation, and are tax-deductible.
The Blubrry community is a place for podcasters to connect with each other and with listeners. Members build the community by promoting the site on their shows.
