Director John Singleton involved in fatal car accident

Director John Singleton was involved in a fatal care accident that left one woman dead. On Thursday evening Singleton hit a woman in his SUV. The 57-year-old woman, identified as Constance Russell of L.A., was jaywalking says police.


 


“Mr. Singleton stopped immediately and later identified himself to police. He was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was cooperative, and was questioned and released,” said Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles police.


 


Singleton won’t be charged in the accident. “This is being treated as an unfortunate accident. There will be no criminal charges,” Lee added.  


 


The woman was taken to a near by hospital and pronounced dead Friday morning.


 


Singleton has directed many movies including “Shaft,” “2 Fast 2 Furious,” and produced several movies including “Hustle and Flow” and “Illegal Tender.”
