“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest will host the 59th annual Emmy Awards on Sunday and has announced he may also perform. Seacrest revealed the awards show will be opened with a musical number and he may be one of the performers. He says it all depends on “how confident I feel on the 16th.”
“That’s so obvious, singing and dancing, so I’ll probably attempt to do that. There’s a very interesting costume change, which could be the biggest mistake of my career…it’s that embarrassing,” Seacrest revealed. “I’m going to try and make the show fun…and I’m going to try to have a sense of humor about it, and I hope the people watching have a sense of humor, too.”
Among the hottest Emmy nominations this year is ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘The Sopranos’ for best drama. Going head to head in the best comedy category is ‘Ugly Betty,’ ‘Entourage,’ and ‘The Office’ among others. The highest nominee is the made-for-TV movie ‘Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee’ with 17 bids.
The Emmys airs live tonight on FOX at 8 p.m. ET.
