Atlanta, Ga. 3/07/2008 03:26 PM GMT (FINDITT)
It’s down to a dozen as “American Idol” trimmed another four contestants on Thursday night, sending a pair of females and two males home following an audience vote.
Not making the cut where 18-year-old Houston native Kady Malloy who was dubbed “forgettable” by Simon Cowell and 19-year-old Asia’h Epperson of Joplin, Missouri, another victim of Cowell’s tongue. The acerbic Brit called Epperson a “second-rate” Whitney Houston.
As for the guys it was 29-year-old Luke Menard getting the boot after a less than impressive rendition of ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” that’s not to say an impressive rendition of that song even exists. It was the end of the road for 18-year-old Danny Noriega as well and the Azusa, California resident took the news pretty hard as he began to cry.
With the four removed the final 12 took shape and most believe 17-year-old David Archuleta of Murray, Utah stands a great chance at earning the “American Idol” title. The former Star Search champion has wowed the judges with his powerful pipes and become a fan favorite.
The remaining eleven contestants are Jason Castro, 20, Rockwall, Texas; David Cook, 25, Blue Springs, Missouri; Kristy Lee Cook, 24, Selma, Oregon; Chikezie Eze, 22, Inglewood, California; David Hernandez, 24, Glendale, Arizona; Michael Johns, 29, Los Angeles; Ramiele Malubay, 20, Miramar, Florida; Syesha Mercado, 21, Sarasota, Florida; Amanda Overmyer, 23, Mulberry, Indiana; Carly Smithson, 24, San Diego; Brooke White, 24, Mesa, Arizona.
