Florida Teen Stephanie Kuleba Dies After Breast Surgery

A West Boca High School senior died Saturday after while undergoing breast surgery. Doctors say18-year-old Stephanie Kuleba died after suffering a fatal reaction to the anesthesia which is known as malignant hyperthermia.
Kuleba, who was the captain of the varsity cheerleading team at her high school, was having surgery to correct asymmetrical breasts and an inverted areola. Two hours into the surgery, she was rushed to Delray Medical Center. She died a day later.
“I am devastated by the loss and I feel for the family,” said the surgeon who was performing the operation, Stephen Schuster.
Kuleba’s family said she wanted to be a plastic surgeon.
