Verdell Jones Commits to Indiana Hoosiers
Atlanta, GA 5/05/2008 11:19 PM GMT (FINDITT)
Verdell Jones, one of the top 150 high school basketball players in the nation, committed to the University of Indiana on Monday.
Jones' commitment is very necessary for the Hoosiers and new head coach Tom Crean as IU returns just three scholarship players from last year.
Jones, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Central H.S. in Champaign, IL, is the fifth member of the first recruiting class for Crean. Jones is the second member of Rivals.com's top 150 players list, along with Nick Williams as Hoosier commitments on that list
Jones, a three-star recruit, finished the season with averages of 17.6 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Jones selected Indiana over Minnesota, Southern Illinois, Arizona, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
