Man Rescued 100 Hours after China Earthquake
Atlanta, GA 5/16/2008 04:00 PM GMT (FINDITT)
After being trapped for more than 100 hours, a 50-year old truck driver was rescued Friday from the rubble of the fertilizer plant where he worked.
Rescue workers spent more than 22 hours digging through the debris to reach Lin Deyun, who was conscious and able to communicate.
Lin had been pinned under heavy concrete, and was freed after he agreed to allow doctors to amputate an arm and one of his legs.
Workers continued searching through the rubble of the factory, located in Yunhua about 100 miles north of Chengdu, in the hopes of finding three other workers thought to still be alive.
None of the buildings in Yunhua were left standing following Monday’s 7.9 earthquake.
