University of Kansas Medical Center Teaching & Learning Technologies Department and KU School of Allied Health Recognized for Excellence
Interdisciplinary team wins ANGEL Impact Award for improving quality of online learning.

ANGEL® Learning, recognized innovator of course management software and services, awarded a team from the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) an ANGEL Impact Award for Excellence at the annual ANGEL User Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio this month. The award recognizes a joint University of Kansas School of Allied Health and Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) Department project for improving the quality of online learning.
Titled “Extreme Course Makeover” the award-winning project optimizes ANGEL Learning Management Suite features to incorporate instructional best practices into online courses and make online learning active. Results include:
· An increase in the average course final exam grade from a C+ prior to the course makeover to an average final exam grade of A- following the course makeover.
· Positive student course evaluations.
· Faculty volunteering for course makeovers.
Individual KUMC ANGEL Impact Award recipients are:
· Lisa Bittel, PhD, PT, Professor and Chair, Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Services, KU School of Allied Health
· Dave Antonacci, Director, Teaching & Learning Technologies
· Stephanie Gerald, Teaching & Learning Technologies Liaison to the School of Allied Health
