Pregnant Man Thomas Beatie Debuts Baby

Thomas Beatie gave birth to daughter Susan three weeks ago and is now showing her off. Beatie is said to be the first legally transgendered male to give birth. His pregnancy sparked controversy, but Beatie insists that he, baby Susan and wife Nancy are a normal family.

“Susan is a miracle! And we’re finally the family we’ve been dreaming of,” Beatie tells People magazine in his first interview since giving birth.

Beatie had a partial sex change and became a legal transgendered male. He took twice-weekly doses of testosterone but kept all female reproductive organs. Beatie got pregnant through artificial insemination.

“She’s so precious; I just can’t stop staring at her. Just holding her is the best feeling in the world,” he tells People. “When Susan finally came out, it was like in slow motion. I was full of wonder.”

“There were tears of joy,” Nancy added.
