Steel Dynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ:STLD) surged 1.99% to $17.39. The company announced
that its board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.075
per common share, payable on or about January 14, 2011, to shareholders of
record at the close of business on December 31, 2010. 


The stock
has average daily volume of 3.94 million shares. At current market price, the
market capitalization of the company stands at $3.77 billion.   


FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) advanced 1.74% to $94. The company posted
an 18% drop in second-quarter profit and missed its revenue target, but the
Memphis package-delivery giant said the holiday season is going better than it
expected.


The company said
its second-quarter profit declined to $283 million or 89 cents a share, from
$345 million, or $1.10 a share, a year ago. Excluding charges, it earned $1.16
a share in the latest period.Revenue rose 12% to $9.63 billion.


On average,
analysts expected FedEx to earn $1.31 a share on revenue of $9.78 billion,
according to a survey by FactSet Research. 


Pier 1 Imports, Inc. (NYSE:PIR) dropped 3.95% to $9.97. For the
third quarter, the company's net income declined to $21 million or $0.18 per
share from $38.81 million or $0.37 per share in the previous year.


On average,
eight analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report
earnings per share of $0.14 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically
exclude one-time items.
