As Cat Galaxy prepares for its June 10th live broadcast of Code Red Cats, the 10 hour live broadcast to promote cat adoptions, the show will also now touch on other subjects as well, like the benefits of spaying & neutering and TNR, as feral cats also tend to end up in shelters during cat and kitten season.
"Animal rescue shelters are filling to capacity with cats due to unwanted litters. While we will be mentioning those cats needing good and loving homes during the show and playing some great music, we will also be talking about spaying and neutering and TNR as well. Many people do not realize that even feral cats end up in the shelter system and many times euthanized due to their wild nature. All cats deserve a chance at survival but spaying and neutering can indeed help end the cycle of overpopulation," said Nohl Rosen of Cat Galaxy.
Cat Galaxy which is a radio station for cats is also planning on hosting a press conference or meeting with members of the media individually before the show takes place, to educate them about the problems the cats and rescues are facing every day especially during cat and kitten season.
"Besides cat rescue groups, we also want members of the media to be a part of this show and help get the word out about it. The press can play an important roll in getting the word out about the benefits of spay/neuter as well as TNR. We also want the public to know about all the great cats now awaiting adoptions in shelters across the country and hopefully find them that forever home. The media can really be a great tool for this and we hope they will participate," Rosen mentions.
Code Red Cats is the second largest show the station has broadcasted during cat and kitten season and will begin at 8am (10am Central, 11am Eastern). The first one, Crazy About Cats aired back in March and lasted 12 hours. That one focused on spaying and neutering and the benefits of TNR which is the best way to handle the feral cat issue.
The show will also have on-air guests including members of the animal rescue community to join us in studio to talk about their organization as well as about cats up for adoption. We also hope to have them talk about special programs that also benefit cats as well such as low cost spay/neuter, vaccinations, and even some success stories. The media is also invited to be in studio with us as well.
"This is why this broadcast is so important. June is Adopt-a-Cat month and many rescue organizations will be working very hard to make sure the cats that need it get adopted into good and loving homes. Cat & kitten season leaves many of them overwhelmed not just with unwanted litters but also by human turn-ins. Humans need to realize that adopting a cat is a life long commitment not a short term one. If this show can help get one cat adopted, then it is well worth it," Rosen added.
The station is also planning on bringing in guests via Skype which is a software program allowing both feline and human the chance to talk to each other via voice. Cat Galaxy hopes many of the listeners will also skype in and join them on the show.
The station is also looking for sponsors and advertisers for the show as well. The station will have special prices for those who wish to advertise on the broadcast. Sponsors and advertisers will also be mentioned throughout the broadcast. Cat Galaxy will also be mentioning those radio stations which choose to air the show for their listeners as well. Animal rescue groups will also get a special rate as well.
