Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) Names Ernie Richardsen Group Vice President

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) recently announced that Ernie Richardsen, a 17-year pharmacy industry veteran, has been promoted to Group Vice President, Pharmaceutical Purchasing and Clinical Services. His appointment is effective immediately.

In his new position, Richardsen, 41, a licensed pharmacist, is responsible for pharmaceutical purchasing and purchasing strategy, patient compliance initiatives, pharmacy program development, in-store clinics and retail pricing. He reports to John Standley, President and Chief Operating Officer of Rite Aid. Richardsen most recently served as Rite Aid Vice President, Pharmacy Programs and Clinical Services, overseeing the development and implementation of patient compliance initiatives, clinical programs, in-store clinics and pharmacy business development. Prior to joining Rite Aid, Richardsen served as Vice President of Pharmacy Category Management for the former Brooks Eckerd drugstore chain where he oversaw all aspects of pharmaceutical purchasing, including brand, generic and diagnostic product procurement; reverse logistics and patient compliance programs. "Ernie is a seasoned pharmacy executive with broad business experience," Standley said. "He's made valuable contributions to Rite Aid since joining our company with the acquisition of Brooks Eckerd, and we look forward to continuing to benefit from his talent and expertise as he takes on his new responsibilities."  

Richardsen is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He received his master's degree in business administration from Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania. He replaces David Vucurevich who has left Rite Aid to pursue a new opportunity in the pharmaceutical industry. Rite Aid is one of the nations leading drugstore chains with more than 4,800 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia with fiscal 2009 annual sales of more than $26.3 billion.
