Daimler AG (NYSE: DAI) Reports Mercedes-Benz Sales Drop 13.4 Percent in September

Daimler AG (NYSE: DAI) said Thursday that U.S. sales of its Mercedes-Benz vehicles declined nearly 13.4 percent, according to Associated Press.

Increased sales of its E-Class cars were offset by decreases in other models. On a year-to-date basis, sales are down 24.4 percent.
Sales fell to 17,799 from 20,557 last year. Year to date sales are down 24.4 percent to 147,834 from 195,454.
The company said its smart USA division posted a 54.2 percent sales decline, to 814 from 1,778. Sales of Mercedes-Benz USA vehicles fell to 16,985 from 18,779, a 9.6 percent decline.
C-Class car sales emerged as the month's volume leader at 5,002 units.
The company's 9th generation E-Class cars posted a 23.6 percent sales increase over the September 2008 level.
