Anixter International Inc. (NYSE:AXE) notched up 6.24% to $42.91 on an unusual huge volume of 791K shares after today it posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit due to lower expenses, but warned that fourth-quarter revenue would drop sequentially. "As we head towards year end, we are cognizant that there will be fewer shipping days in the fourth quarter due to the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays," Chief Executive Robert Eck said in a statement. The company also expects that certain of its OEM supply customers will use this period to extend normal holiday factory shutdowns. Third-quarter net income fell to $22.1 million, or 61 cents per share, from $59.7 million, or $1.53 per share, a year earlier. Revenue fell 20 percent to $1.27 billion. Analysts expected earnings of 56 cents a share, excluding exceptional items, on revenue of $1.23 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S
