Today the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning that the stomach-soothing drugs Prilosex and Nexium can half the effects of blood-thinning drug, Plavix, known generically as clopidogrel.
The key ingredient in the heartburn medication blocks and enzyme the body needs in order to break down Plavix, weakening the drugs full effect.
"Patients at risk for heart attacks or strokes who use clopidogrel to prevent blood clots will not get the full effect of this medicine," the agency said in a statement.
