Familymessages.org (http://www.familymessages.org ) is a web site that allows families to put up information and queries about loved ones missing since Hurricane Katrina.

Families may submit their queries by posting to the web site (no registration required), by sending an email, using a (downloadable) fax form (1-866-747-2739) or via telephone (408-394-2636). Their information and requests are posted to the website and available to anyone accessing the site.

Familymessages.org allows searching by name, city and/or state and provides RSS feeds so that family members can be notified immediately when updates are made to their entries.

To date, the 48-hour-old site has over 640 postings across 6 states and 41,338 unique hits. Familymessages.org has helped find 10 missing people and allowed families to communicate with over 55 survivors still in New Orleans.

The more people that use this site, the more effective it will be so any mention of Familymessages.org on your website, news story or elsewhere would be greatly appreciated and beneficial.
