Honda Reports 24 Percent Rise in December

American Honda Motor Co. Inc. reported Tuesday that its U.S. sales jumped 24 percent in December, but dropped 19.5 percent for the year, according to Associated Press.

Sales jumped to 107,143 vehicles, compared to 86,085 in December 2008. For 2009 as a whole, sales fell to 1,150,784, compared to 1,428,765 last year.


Sales in the Honda division rose 18.9 percent in December, compared with 2008. However, the company's Acura division reported an 8.1 percent decline.


The Accord was the company’s best-selling model as sales increased 17.3 percent in December to 28,238. The CR-V increased sales by 24.5 percent to 18,686 to hit a new December record.
