Group Calls For Big Brother 9 To Be Cancelled After ‘Retard’ Comments

Atlanta, GA 2/19/2008 06:54 AM GMT (TransWorldNews)

Autism United has called for Big Brother 9 to be cancelled following a comment made by houseguest Adam Jasinski. Adam, who is described as a public relations manager for an autism group, was discussing with other houseguests how he would spend the Big Brother prize money. He said he would open a hair salon for the disabled “so them retards can get it together and get their hair done.”

Adam’s partner Sheila immediately told him he shouldn’t use the term “retard” when referring to mentally disabled children. He shot back at her saying he could call them “retards” since he worked with them all day long.

The Executive Director of Autism United, John Gilmore, sent a letter to CBS demanding that they take action and apologize for airing Adam’s comments.
