Atlanta, GA 9/14/2008 08:22 PM GMT (FINDITT)
Matt Damon and Haitian born singer Wyclef Jean visited Haiti over the weekend to help deliver food to Hurricane Ike victims. Damon and Jean handed out bags of rice and beans with cans of cooking oil.
Damon said he hoped to call attention to the devastated country. “Hopefully we can make enough noise that people will pay attention. I truly believe in the people in my country,” the actor said.
The pair later gave food to over 600 people in a church shelter who were left homeless by the hurricane.
Hurricane Ike hit Haiti late last week killing at least 58 people and leaving hundreds of thousands without homes. The storm hit Texas early Saturday morning. At least 3 people have been reported dead and hundreds of others stranded.
