A suspicious package left at a Starbucks prompted
authorities in Atlanta, Georgia to close down streets and evacuate buildings Monday
morning. A bomb squad was called in to determine if the package, which was discovered
around 7:45 a.m. at Starbucks on Peachtree Street and 6th Street, contained
explosives.
Police shutdown two blocks of Peachtree in midtown
near 8th Street and 10th Street. "We have to take all necessary precautions in
the event that the package is a real threat," said Atlanta fire Capt.
Jolyon Bundrige.
The package turned out to be empty. Peachtree Street was
reopened shortly before 10 a.m.
