The alliance will afford the families of our active troops with an opportunity to enjoy a no expense evening at the ballpark with their families.
It is the interest of many prospective corporate sponsors whose financial contributions will cover the costs that would otherwise be incurred by the families.
Anne Marie Feigner, “The Queen” and wife of Eddie Feigner, has taken on this personal crusade as a way to demonstrate “The King and His Court’s” lifelong mission to afford audiences with a day at the ballpark as a vehicle to set aside life’s challenges, spend time with family, and reflect upon our troops, their families, and volunteers, while reflecting upon being an American and the contributions of our those across the country that tirelessly serve our country. Feigner served our country as a Marine in the Air Radio and Gunnery School in Jacksonville Florida.
While serving, Feigner played ball for USMC Cherry Point. In the year 2000, ‘The King and His Court®’ were invited to Cherry Point for Armed Forces Day and Cherry Point’s 58th birthday by commanding General, Tom Braaten. General Braaten, now retired, told his officers that the only gift he wanted was a ‘King and His Court’ jacket, which naturally was sent to him.
“It was a great honor when in return General Braaten sent me a framed Marine collage of memorabilia and insignias, on which was written, ‘Welcome Back, Eddie Feigner, Once and always a Cherry Point Marine, Cherry Point Pride Week, 2000, Keep throwing ‘em straight and fast”, said the King of softball.
This year marks the 61st consecutive season that “The King and His Court®” is touring throughout the United States. Eddie Feigner is the undisputed “King” of fast-pitch softball. He is the patriarch of the original four-man team that has entertained, enthralled, and entranced over 200,000,000 fans around the world. Possessing the most remarkable right arm in the annals of sports (141,000 career strike outs, 930 no hitters), his dazzling displays of blindfolded hurling, behind the back phantom pitches, and 100 MPH windmill, whirlwind precision strikeouts are legendary. Touring internationally, the unbelievable quartet has performed their barnstorming artistry in 103 different countries with games in places like Westland, Michigan and Houston, Texas, and as far away as Taipei, Taiwan (Within the last month performed for the United States Department of Nave in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This fascinating tome chronicles the extraordinary life of a genuine sports icon. “All good things must come to an end, and one of these seasons will be my last one without, perhaps, too much advanced notice. When the time comes for me to lay down the old softball, I want to feel that I have done a little more than just entertain my fans and friends. Young and old alike, I am in there pitching for the Master and playing the game fair and clean and square in preparation for the big leagues in God’s eternity,” “the King is quoted as saying in the book.
Today, Feigner at 81, no longer pitches. However, he does still tour and is an active participant in the performance, serving as the emcee for the “King and His Court®” games that also include his wife, Anne Marie, “the Queen.” It is both Eddie and Anne Marie’s mission to ensure that the tour continues and that families across the country will always have the opportunity to put life’s challenges aside, and enjoy a family night out at the ballpark.
